Delahunt’s Cafe & on St Patrick’s Day 2007
2007 is the first year where Irish singer/songwriter Eddie Delahunt has his coffee shop, Delahunt’s Cafe & for St Patrick’s Day.
The Cafe opens at 7am on Saturday, March 17 and Eddie has told me that “things will happen”.
Effectively you are walking into an Irishman’s kitchen of a festive morning. There is no set agenda, or if there is the cute hoor is keeping it to himself. I can’t think of a better way to start your Paddy’s Day than not knowing what you’re doing. Well I can, but it involves spray-on mature cheddar and a tennis racquet, and it wouldn’t be appropriate for your average patron saint.
So you can expect there to be Irish music there, but you never who might be playing it. And there’s the sort of things to eat and drink that you get in a coffee shop. When I go and eat at Cafe &, whatever I eat, I call it dinner.
Eddie told me during the week that the patio has been open. Mind you it was warmer during the week.
Eddie Delahunt for the rest of St Patrick’s Day is performing around the corner at Mike Kelly’s Westsider at 2pm so go to the Cafe early and go often. If you’re still standing later in the day he’s at O’Dowd’s on the Plaza.
After the success of Cafe &’s inaugural Thanksgiving and Irish New Year, it’s likely to be in huge demand. You have been warned.
