Also this year Kansas City Magazine readers voted for their favorites in more than 60 categories – and from the dozens of contenders, The Elders made it to the top 5 in the Best Band category. The final awards ceremony will be held Thursday, August 20th, 2009 at the Grand Ballroom at the KC Convention Center.
Ian Byrne, newly annointed US citizen from Ireland’s County Wicklow, and lead singer of The Elders says:
These publications are top shelf in this City. To be acknowledged by them and their readers is indeed a great success for us. We are all very proud of this recognition.
Brent Hoad, the band’s fiddle player adds,
We are so honored and flattered to win these awards. It is always good to receive recognition for one’s efforts, and this is just an inspiration for us to work even harder down the road to keep the party goin’!
