Brand New Song
Good morning Kansas city and welcome to car crash blogging.
I have a brand new pedal, and a brand new ankle, and so resume living again.
Actually I resumed so yesterday, last night cycling to the Plaza to catch Eddie Delahunt & Friends perform a truly extraordinary night of cover songs by the Pet Shop Boys.
And all with just accordion and bodhrán. And guitar of course.
There’s lots to talk of today, but right at this moment I am embroiled in a spam war. It’s the biggest one I’ve fought since just before Christmas 2005 when my then biggest client started receiving 20,000 pieces of rubbish a day.
It was a lot of work to win that fight, and you don’t get thanks for such things because nobody knows you are doing so. It’s all done behind the curtain, you see. Well you don’t see but that’s the point. I just thought you should know it’s not all glamour here.
Now, where did I put my heels?
You could read something from the vaults while you’re waiting:
• Getting Away From Loud Pop Music & Motor Cars
• Ireland and/or Eire
• Luka Bloom: Not Just an Irish Folk Singer
• The Bagpipes in Kansas City: Charlie
• oileán : island
You must be thrilled to be mobile again, Eolai. I can’t imagine how cranky Mr. M would be after being kept so long from his chosen appendage.
Be safe!
Crankiness Medbh? I’m unfamiliar with the concept. But yes, I am very happy to be whizzing through the air again, carrying packages and sweat hither and thither. And I’m enjoying cycling again.
For me, life without a bicycle in KC is how it is for most people without a car. A gallon of milk for the tea (three gallons a week), or a painting to the Post Office, is quite awkward. Add a twist of ankle and it becomes close to impossible.
