An Evening of Irish Song & Dance in Wichita, KS
“An Evening of Irish Song & Dance,” with Sun-Treader on traditional jigs, reels and folk music of Ireland, together with local Irish dancers and singers, takes place at 7pm on March 1, 2008 at the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita.
You’re also promised Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms and Danny Boy.
Food for the event includes Irish Stew, Coddle and, Bubble & Squeak. They are described as “Irish favourites” so let’s dispense with that immediately. Bubble & Squeak is not Irish, nor is it a favourite of the Irish.
Most people in Ireland would be hard pressed to tell you what Bubble & Squeak even is. Because it’s an English dish - not a million miles away from the Irish dish of Colcannon, but just like the term banger for sausage, English nonetheless.
The Museum of World Treasures is located at 835 E. First Street in Wichita, Kansas. The event is a benefit for KPTS, Channel 8.
Admission is $40. Reservations, Lon Smith, 316-263-1131, or 888-700-1311.
would love to attend, but on a student budget, eek $40? I didn’t think there was any nightlife here that cost the same price of dinner at Red Lobster. I stand corrected.
