There’s a small road that runs behind the Derryreel mountains in north Donegal. I walked it a few times with the dog, sometimes completing a 5 mile loop through one gap and then another before returning to our cottage. Other times we walked off it, past the manicured fields stolen from bogs in the shadow of Muckish Mountain, and onto a network where bóithrín leads to bóithrín.
This is the 1st of 3 paintings in a series which together practically form a panorama.
I think this painting is much nicer in reality than this quite poor photo portrays.
