Tribute to Founder of Scottish Band
If you’re wondering why the Highlands in the Heartland concert this Saturday featuring The Kansas City St. Andrew’s Pipe Band refers to Wallace’s Badge, the Kansas City Star has the story on what is a tribute to one of the band’s founders:
Wallace McKee and his wife died in January 2002 in a car accident involving a drunken driver. The band will pay tribute to McKee through a variety of pieces, especially in one written by Tristan Wilson called Wallace’s Badge
A segment of the McKee tartan, a pattern representing the Scottish clan, appears on the group’s uniform hats.
Saturday’s Highlands in the Heartland: Wallace’s Badge also has Eddie Delahunt, Brett Gibson, and Gabriel Reyes performing, as well as Scottish and Irish dancing.
