Switchback
For thirteen years, Chicago-based duo Switchback have been performing their unique brand of Irish and Celtic music, producing nine albums along the way.
Martin McCormack and Brian FitzGerald mix in healthy doses of American influences to produce their varying rocking tunes and softer ballads.
Currently the boys are touring the country promoting their excellent Falling Water River album which is a classy acoustic rootsy affair, just not Irish rootsy. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Have a listen to them on MySpace, and you’ll hear twanging guitars, ethereal sound effects, Bluegrass and Country, mixed in with Brian Eno and Pat Metheny. They’re certainly very good, but you tell me what it is they play. I will tell you that Requiem is gorgeous, and I’d love to hear it live.
