St Patrick’s Day 2009 at KC Public House
[ UPDATE: We are receiving reports of the KC Public House having closed. Ashley Falls, a KC-based band who play traditional Irish songs and Irish pop and rock, are now available for an alternative booking on St Patrick’s Day in the Kansas City area. ]
The St. Patrick’s Day entertainment KC Public House in Overland Park (the old WJ MCBride’s) is by Irish band Ashley Falls, who will be playing their brand of Irish rock and traditional music from 3:00-6:00pm on St. Patrick’s Day.
In Irish music terms, “Ashley Falls” is the name of a tune written by Paul O’Toole, a Dubliner who formed the Young Dubliners with Keith Roberts. It’s a mandolin based tune that he turned into a rock set. You can hear it on their 1994 Rocky Road ep, and being reprised on their 2007 album With All Due Respect: The Irish Sessions.
In geographic terms Ashley Falls is a water feature in Ireland’s Connemara, and a placename from Massachusetts to a whole bunch of places.
KC Public House is located in the 119th and Metcalf area of Overland Park - actually in that little turn off for Target from Blue Valley Parkway. (913) 327-7717.
This event is posted on the Kansas City Irish events calendar.
