Pier D Writer Murals on Glass
There’s an update to my earlier post on Dublin Airport’s brand spanking new Pier D.
In that post I showed you a couple of photos I took there of a mural in glass of the Irish language writer Máirtín Ó Cadhain.
If you didn’t guess it I should tell you that my pictures didn’t do the mural justice - especially not in capturing the range of colours employed in the writings that comprise the mural.
Anyway, Paul O’Kane of Dublin Airport Authority sent me more details on Pier D and its Irish Writers Gallery of which the Ó Cadhain mural is but one mural. You can now learn about some other of the writers featured and about the fascinating process used to create the glass murals, in my original post on Dublin Airport’s Pier D.
I’ll be back in Dublin Airport myself in a few days for another trip to England, and if either of my flights out or back in to Dublin should go through Pier D, I’ll try and take some more pictures.
And hopefully shortly after that trip I’ll be at the airport yet again - this time to fly to the US. With the current pace of change at the airport I could well have very different pictures to show you each time.
