Paddy O’Quigleys & St Patrick’s Day 2008
At this time of year Paddy O’Quigley’s has a habit of promoting its Irish events in a kind of speed gibberish as if it’s on crack cocaine. Or should that be craic cocaine?
Either way I’m usually left needing an interpreter. Odd when you think about it as I’m actually Irish, yet I can’t understand what somebody writes in English trying to make it sound like an Irish person might speak.
I do know that on Friday the 14th, 2008, after the 2nd round of the Big XII, Flannigan’s Right Hook gets the big St Patrick’s Day weekend started.
Somewhere over the weekend you should see the tents up and the Port-A-Potties in place for Monday’s madness. I’ll quote you the gibberish from here on:
Opening at 7:00 AM for our 18th annual Top O’The Mornin Breakfast Buffet. Paddy O’Quigley’s at 119th and Roe, is Co. Johnson’s O’fficial Headquarters for The Wearin O’The Green.
Now just remember one other thing …. March ain’t over yet !!!! …. The Madness continues and the Dancin’s just begun. 64 teams kick it off again …. and yas don’t wanna miss out on all the action, ‘With a l’il Luck O’The Irish’ when You and the rest of the gang Bellie on up for Tip Off …. in THE IRISH SPORTS ZONE !!!! Check out our other St. Paddy’s Parties in our other K.C. Paddy O’Quigley’s locations …. The CrossRoads, downtown off 18th and Grand for the Big XII Tourney & St. Pat’s Parade !!! N.K.C. off I-29 and Northwest 64th St …. Get your Green on Up North !!!
MAY THE LORD ‘n THE LUCK OF THE IRISH BE WITH YOU ALWAYS
Apostrophes reign you’ll notice, and using O’ instead of Of to make something appear Irish, is about as funny as laughing at transliterated menu items in a Thai restaurant because the same arrangement of letters in English is a word that makes you titter. Like titter does.
And just on that last blessing, since I seem to be in a cranky humour, I’d like you to know, again, that I am actually from Ireland and that I’ve had a lousy life, so you might want some Welsh luck with you always instead of the Irish stuff. Just saying.
The Flannigan’s Right Hook gig is on the Kansas City Irish Events calendar, and I’ll stick the rest of the O’Quigley’s arrangements for the big day on my permanently promised Paddy’s Day guide.
