My Irish Fest
There was a time I used to give the Irish Fest website some stick.
But the 2008 Irish fest site is different. How so, you ask?
Well apart from being a brand new design of much improved usability and such things that matter to websites, it has one particular feature that is a power of usefulness.
And that matters for an Irish festival with a line-up of entertainment so riddled with quality that trying to pick who to see and when to see them is a 4-dimensional maze with traditional Irish music in the background.
It’s My Irish Fest.
My Irish Fest is the new Personalized Itinerary feature on IrishFest.com. It allows you to pick the entertainers that you want to see so that you then have your own personal itinerary. I tried it out earlier this morning and it worked great.
The entertainment page includes a handy little audio link for each act that will play a sample for you right there without you having to go off and download anything. If you like it just clik it on into your pwrsonal itinerary. To avoid clashes just click every occurrence of the acts you want to catch, and then in your more manageablely-sized personal itinerary remove the duplicates to optimize your entertainment.
I am of course making it sound more complicated than it is, so just take the 30 seconds necessary to register, and use it yourself. When your done you can even choose a nice printable version.
On my customized Irish Fest itinerary are the Kilfenora Ceili Band, Furry Village, the Screaming Orphans, Trad on the Prom, Fingal, the Kane Sisters, the Fuchsia Band, Athas, Eileen Ivers, Ri Ra, Ciaran O’Maonaigh, the Omagh Choir, Skelton O’Hare & Knowles, Solas, Frogwater, and the Celtic Tenors.
Not a bad list. And I’m sure you could come up with an even longer one made up of other entertainers.
The Irish Fest in Milwaukee starts today, August 14, 2008 and goes on until Sunday night, August 17, 2008. Now if they would just dump that Leprechaun logo, I probably wouldn’t slag them ever again. Probably.
