May Fame in April
A couple of weeks back, part-time Kansas City resident, Irish performer Máirtín de Cógáin sent me a link about somebody we’d been talking about on and off over the last year, Cork’s Giordaí ua Laoghaire.
I was saving it for some Sunday for you - because it’s a 42 minute-long documentary - but it’s making the news in the Irish blogosphere right now, so here’s the link now.
A few days ago I read Nialler’s post on it and was impressed by his ability to sum it up, and today Blogorrah noticed Nialler’s post.
May Fame is directed by Langerland.com co-founder Colm Tobin and premiered at the Cork Film Festival back in October 2004.
My impression? Colm Tobin has made something that’s great fun. Cork looks great in the rain. And fans of Cathal Coughlan will be interested in his contribution.
Visit May Fame’s official website, but really you should just watch the whole thing - when you have a spare forty-two minutes.
I actually watched this afternoon while I was lurking in Bloggorah. I put it up in a corner of my moniter while I was working. The tour of Cork was fascinating. I don’t know that much about Giordaí, but he seemed like an, ahem, interesting character. Do people in Cork stand naked in their back yard on a regular basis or just on special occasions?
