Three weekends in a row of St Patrick’s Day stuff for Lawrence, Kansas, culminate on St Patrick’s Day itself, Saturday, March 17, 2007 with the 20th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The parade starts at 1:00 pm at South Park in Massachusetts Street, continues north up Mass, and ends at 501 N. 9th across the Kansas River Bridge.

The Lawrence Journal World has news of the coronation of this year’s parade Queen, Margaret Perkins-McGuinness. In an article with one of those stupid headlines (Parade O’ Green), Perkins-McGuinness said she decided to compete for the title after working on Kids Voting with a number of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee members.
The coronation ceremony also included recognition for the parade’s senior king and queen, Alan Johnson and Terri Wilson. The parade grand marshal is Alan Mulally, chief executive of Ford Motor Company.

You can also visit www.lawrencestpatricksdayparade.com for lots of information especially about former parades, but I warn you - you’ll have very bad music foisted upon you. They’re killing men and women for the wearing of the green? Well I can’t blame them, especially if they’re responsible for throwing that music at us.
