KC Gaelic Athletic Club - Time & Location Change
The weekly training session of the Kansas City Gaelic Athleic Club has changed both its time, and perhaps more significantly, its location.
To lessen the impact of the heat at this time of year, training is now a couple of hours earlier at 11am.
And in really big news, thanks to the generosity of the Kansas City Wizards, the KCGAC will now be playing at their training facility in Swope Park. The pitch is described as “very nice, much softer and a helluva lot flatter” than what the club have been using to date. And it’s very easy to find - at 63rd & Lewis Rd - in between the Zoo entrance and I-435.
This is another great step forward in the growth of Gaelic Games and Irish culture in Kansas City. If Gaelic Football or Hurling intimidates you, why not just turn up and see what it’s like for yourself, with people just like you playing?
As I post this I’ve just watched live a tremendous goal in the Munster Hurling semi-final between Cork and Tipp. In Kansas City you’ll probably get a chance to see it on Tuesday evening at The Gaf. But until then why not head along to the Wizards Training Facility to see some Gaelic Games?
The new pitch is awesome!
It’s too bad you’re not here… we could tip a few over the four matches being shown tonight…
Tremendous stuff on the pitch Dan.
I didn’t want to say anything about last night’s games being shown at the Gaf lest I give away Tipp’s first victory over Cork at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in the championship since 1920-something.
Until the last moment I was heading to Croke Park myself to watch Dublin play, but accepted I didn’t have the 25 euro to spare and Dublin went ahead and won by a ferocious margin without me.
It’s going to be a good summer at The Gaf.
I know enough about the GAA now to know it was a helluva match… really good.
Yeah, the pitch is awesome.
I’s helped us prepare for our first out of town match against Little Rock GAA this Sunday, June 22.
