Irish KC Reviewed
Ah look, IrishPhiladelphia has reviewed IrishKC (now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d write back when I wouldn’t speak to Dublin’s southsiders) and says some very nice things about me.
There’s all kinds of generous words and phrases not seen since reviews of Michael Flatley’s Celtic Tiger but almost certainly my favourite would be the description of how I look: “if the drawings are any indication, it’s a cross between a young Fidel Castro and an angry Santa Claus.”
Because of the practical difficulties of writing a site about being Irish in Kansas City while back in Ireland but currently in England, it took me almost a week to notice it. Both apologies and thanks then to the author Jeff Meade.
Those of you who suffered through the posted 1st half of my Cycle Across America will know that I have a soft spot for Philadelphia since the epic day I cycled to Philadelphia from New York.
Well, thanks to Irish Philadelphia the spot stays soft.
Crazy; daffily inspired; quirky - I probably say the same myself, if I only knew what daffily meant. Is it like a flower without being od?
I had to look it up myself. I guess it could be like a flower.
Curious. Because for me daffy is an familar enough word (even if I don’t actually hear it used much nor use it myself) that I had no problem with daffily.
Ah, but the main point of posting has to do with this blog in general, not this post. I love the new format, with the KC events posts in a separate column. The event postings are why I come to this blog. But they aren’t the interesting ones to read, actually. The current format makes it easy for browsing through them, and for finding a post one previous read, so one can remember the info on whatever event. And somehow, that makes the other posts more enjoyable too, when they have their own spot without all the KC events posts getting in the way.
Take it as a compliment, Eolai. Castro was hot when he was young. Cuban women threw themselves at him.
That was lovely to read and you thoroughly deserve it, Eolai. Daffily describes you perfectly.
Ellen - Thanks, and yep I agree that it functions much better in terms of being able to follow things. I think running excerpts rather than full posts helps and I might yet extend the practice to the left hand column also, though I’m not sure yet.
Also when I sort out the menu at the top it will help order the navigational mess that it becomes when you pump stuff out shamelessy like I do.
Medbh - Oh I very much take it as a compliment though luckily the angry Santa is probably what takes care of the women prone to throwing themselves at revolutionaries.
Sam - Thank you very much, though it’s not really for me to say.
