How Much Do Performers Get Paid for Irish Festivals?
Ever wondered how much your favourite performer gets paid for playing at an Irish festival?
Perhaps a recent music festival in South Carolina, that makes its payments public knowledge, could give you an idea.
Last week, frequent visitors to Kansas City, Celtic rockers Seven Nations were reported as being the second highest paid act in the St. Pat’s in Five Points festival, when they received $7,500.
According to the St. Pat’s in Five Points budget released last week, more than $61,000 was spent on music for the festival, with local Columbia, SC acts receiving from $100 right up to $5,000.
The festival reported figures of over 35,000 attending but writer Otis R. Taylor Jr says that if you were one of them “you would know talent has little to do with market value.”

Interesting. I’ve never seen a venue of any kind post publicly like that.
Usually among musicians who’ve been on the circuit for a few years, we have a good idea what various performers are getting.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers!
Jonathan
Thanks
And yes I think we all get an idea of what amounts are floating around the festival circuit, but this level of transparency certainly stops a lot of rumours.
I think it’s a good idea.
