Hiring Genealogical Speakers
Looking for a speaker for a future genealogy event? Kenneth G. Aitken over at Genealogy Education has an interesting post yesterday on the Genealogical Speakers Guild.
Ken recommends the Genealogical Speakers Guild Membership Directory 2005, which is available from Willow Bend Books and he gives a couple of tips.
If you search through the members directory of The Genealogical Speakers Guild you will note that Karen Wallace Steely from the Pacific North West has an expertise in historic family photos. As Ken says:
Your group is looking for that knowledge in a speaker, but you are in Kansas City and she’s a wet coast woman. Or is she? A closer reading indicates she’s a Kansas City girl living in the NW. You call to discuss coming “home” for your conference next year.
Type “irish” in that search box and you’ll get 11 results - the first of which are actually based in Ireland, a couple living over by my grandparents’ place - Sean & Eileen M. O’Duill. If you find yourself using anybody from the directory, give Ken a mention.
