Gerry O’Beirne’s Irish Music Live in Kansas City
On Saturday April 4, 2009 the multi-talented Gerry O’Beirne from County Clare is performing at Eddie Delahunt’s Cafe &.
Gerry has written music for film and theater, and had his compositions recorded by such hallowed names in Irish folk music as Andy Irvine, Muireann Nic Amhloaibh, Mary Black, Maura O’Connell, and Cathie Ryan.
Keeping going with the name-checking, O’Beirne has toured with the Sharon Shannon Band, Patrick Street, Midnight Well, Andy M. Stewart, Kevin Burke, Andy Irvine, and the Waterboys. And for good measure he has performed at the White House, opened for the Grateful Dead, and played electric guitar with Marianne Faithfull. You may also have heard him A Prairie Home Companion.
Gerry is also an award-winning producer of traditional and folk albums.
Gerry O’Beirne’s new album, his second, is called The Bog Bodies And Other Stories: Music For Guitar. His debut album was called Half Moon Bay and featured his own songs and instrumental compositions.
Cafe & is located at 4448 Bell St, Kansas City, Missouri. Phone (816) 753 3322 for more information or visit Gerry O’Beirne’s official website.
This event is posted on the Kansas City Irish events calendar, or at least it will be when I clear up after the St Patrick’s Day business.
Hope everybody enjoyed the gig.
