Gaelic Football Training in Kansas City
The organisers of the meeting at the weekend to establish a Gaelic Football Club in Kansas City was considered a great success by its organisers.
As such the first practice session has been planned already. It is scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Southwest High School at 1pm.
The Kansas City Gaelic Athletic Club is still of course looking to increase their ranks, so everybody is welcome to attend the training session at Southwest High School - located just 2 blocks south of Brookside at 6512 Wornall Road. As the club itself says, they are open to all levels of play: “If you don’t know, we’ll teach you!”
The turnout at Sunday’s meeting exceeded expectations with about 12 people attending.
Also at the meeting on Sunday, the title “Gaelic Athletic Club”, rather than “Gaelic Football Club”, was adopted in recognition of the Club’s intention of adding hurling and camogie panels in the future, but for now it’s the foot and hand game with the leather ball that ssems like a cross between a soccerball and a volleyball that you’ll be playing. To avoid confusion the ball will have O’Neill’s written on it. If you ever attended an Irish festival in Berkley Park before it rained, you may have seen one already - because mine was on display
