Finbar Lebowitz
Finbar Lebowitz is this week’s Sunday Short - the irregular post I do featuring an Irish short film.
Made in 2000 and set in Dublin, it’s a comedy directed by Rona Mark.
Set in Dublin it features Ronnie Drew of The Dubliners fame, where he plays a Jewish owner of a book shop.
Part 1:
For some reason it’s split into 9 parts - but like that one they’re all very short - about 2 and a half minutes each. The other parts are below the fold:
Part 2:
Part 3:
Part 4:
Part 5:
Part 6:
Part 7:
Part 8:
Part 9:
what a great little film, ive never heard of it and glad i came on this site and saw it, ronnie drew was very good but the real pay off was the performance of the actor who played finbar david mccarton, who is he and what else has he done?? i loved it!
Just found this blog entry - and the short movie. Am sharing the entry and info on the movie with a number of my friends, relatives and colleagues in diverse lands.
You don’t know by the way why “Lebowitz”?
Or, did you ever see the documentary “Shalom Ireland”?
Best wishes from the Big Apple,
and … thanks.
>> Arieh Lebowitz
Arieh - I’ve no idea why “Lebowitz” I’m afiad. Indeed the making of this film slipped under my radar completely as it came out shortly after my move fro Ireland to KC.
Patrick - Thanks for bringing David McCarton’s performance into the spotlight - I was remiss in not highlighting it. I’m not aware of any more of his work; this is the only thing that IMdB lists him in.
