Denver Parade: Irish Roots and Cowboy Boots
Did you know that the Denver St Patrick’s Day parade is going 45 years? I didn’t.
That’s a big number. And they have a great theme. As themes go.
If you’re going be ready for up to two hours to watch the 200 entries file parade past.
Grand Marshals
With possibly the coolest Grand Marshals of any Paddy’s Day parade in America, Denver has five of the cowboys; Rob Wright, Robby Cabezuela, Anders Heintz, Jared Ficklin, and Shaun Terhune, who took part in the PBS TV series Texas Ranch House, which depicted life on the frontier in 1867. And the cowboys are going to the parade, horses and all, at their own expense.
But why cowboys, you say?
Because the theme is “Irish Roots and Cowboy Boots”, which though it sounds like a great musical and may yet be, is designed as a tribute to all the pioneers, miners and entrepreneurs of Irish descent who contributed to the development of Denver’s western heritage.
