Comments are free and plentiful
Boys and Girls, Irish KC has been kind of busy in the spam wars these last twelve hours - on the good side of course.
A while back comments were switched so that all were moderated. This was done solely to combat spam. Comments have never been deleted simply because I don’t like them or don’t agree with them. I don’t even agree with myself so that wouldn’t be fair. ‘Tis a blog after all and is supposed to be a conversation, however much it appears to be an ego trip of a monologue.
Let me pause for a moment because The London Boys are on the radio. I’ve been thinking about you. Oh yeah.
Okay, so finally I’ve implemented Akismet. I’ve held back for months, manually stopping over 27,000 spam comments coming through, but the several hundred that almost got through last night took the biscuit.
I tell you this because Akismet will likely make the odd mistake and toss your genuine comment into cyber purgatory. While in theory this means I could rescue it before it drops through the trapdoor to hell without so much as a mobile phone camera to record it or even a shout of Go to Hell, well I’ve just dropped those almost 28,000 comments through that trapdoor, and well, needle, haystack, time, essence, better, things, to, do.
UPDATE: Akismet didn’t agree with my current set up or my stomach or something and after three long days I had to deactivate it. The result is that until further notice all comments continue to be moderated for the reasons mentioned below
And another thing - America doesn’t take Abba seriously enough.
So comment away, and I won’t deliberately delete you. Honest. Even if you call me names. I’ve edited a handful of comments - mostly to fix links that people were supplying but mis-typed, but also once to format a very long comment for readability purposes, and a couple of times for privacy reasons. Those policies will remain.
If you leave a comment that doesn’t appear, feel free to drop me an email and I’ll try and fix it. It is also possible that you are actually spamming even though you think that spam is only something you get in your inbox. Spam is spam and will be treated as such, even if the spammer is my mother, again.
Oh and if comments are left on the wrong posts I will move them to where they should be, or I will delete them, depending on how much time I have or tea I’ve drunk. If there is no right post because the comment is not just off-topic but off-every-topic-I’ve-ever-mentioned then it really should be an email. Or Zap, in other words.
I’ve been thinking about you. Shi-pow-pow.
