Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right
Okay so, I’m far from finished but things have changed.
Left & Right
Waffle by me will continue in the left hand column. KC Irish News and other announcements will continue in the center column.
Just like in life there is grey area; I won’t just throw cold hard listings and news in the KC column, and Kansas City will get the odd mention in the personal stuff on the left - like right now.
If I review a play by Synge, it will go to the left. Unless I see that play on a visit to KC. I think.
Existing Posts
Anyway, it should be apparent what’s what as we go on, with the content of the two columns for the most part being quite distinct. To help things start though I went back over the last 3 5 months and re-categorized posts.
Excerpts
Perhaps the most important thing to tell you is that I’m just displaying excerpts from the posts in the center column. Space reasons. And it will be easier for you to scan anyway. Just click on the titles/headlines to read the full post.
Still Tinkering
Right now things are crude, as I need to amend appearances and move navigation around, but it works. However I’m currently working on a web project for a client so it won’t be too soon that things get tidied up here.
Old Stuff
The old main menu and categories haven’t disappeared, they’ve just been shoved down underneath the new posts in the center column. Obviously that’s not good so the Main Menu will be coming back up to a new home across the top, and I have plans for the categories too.

Note that while the picture linking to the HGIT has been removed, the girls haven’t gone away you know.
The Main Column
At this point I should point out that although the 2 columns are not the same size in width or height, nor command the same readership, that neither one is to be considered the main column. There are 2 main columns on IrishKC. Or I’m lying.
Before and After
If you liked everything before, then you’ll probably still like everything. And if you were more inclined to one type of post you should now have your special place to go to.
Feeds
And if you’re a feed reader then there’s no change for now though if you’re a non-KC left column sort of person, you may want to unsubscribe from the main feed, and subscribe instead to this brand new funky non-KC Eolai feed.
Implications
Overall this blogging apartheid should increase the flow of both kinds of posts.
To the right, KC News and events can be trotted out much easier, with and without commentary. And by KC news I really mean stuff that may be of interest to Irish-America in KC.
And to the left I’ll be me, just me, without having to think of what may be of interest to anybody, anywhere.
So?
So here I am. Stuck in the middle with you.
