Browne’s Irish Market at the Irish Roots Cafe: A Podcast
The latest podcast (#20) from Mike O’Laughlin’s Irish Roots Cafe is a special from Browne’s Irish Market & Deli.
The first podcast on location begins with an introductory section which outlines some Irish genealogical starting places for those interested in the name ‘Browne’ and all its variants, before the bulk of the program which is a really nice and illuminating interview with Kerry Browne.
You’ve maybe heard the stunning fact that Kansas City’s Browne’s is the oldest Irish business in North America. Did you know that was validate by the Irish Trade Board (which these days is called Enterprise Ireland?)
The podcast focuses on the coming June celebration of Browne’s 120th Anniversary with many stories from the entire history of the store and the family.
Mike himself will be returning to Browne’s for the Street Anniversary Party to record another podcast. Maybe you’ll be there and be able to share stories with him.
I listened to the podcast on the flash player embedded automatically within its feed and although you could hear everything said it did play at a fast speed so was close to a pair of seagulls having a chat, but if you don’t know what I’m talking about you can just ignore this paragraph and listen to the MP3
At the end of the podcast you also get to hear about the time P. Diddy, Sean Combs, Puff Daddy, or whatever his name currently is, went into Browne’s and made history by being the first…sorry, you’ll have to listen to the podcast

As a Kansas Citian, I’m a bit ashamed that I did not know that about Browne’s.
I guess thats a sign that I should get out more!!
