Americana Music Academy
The Kansas City Star today has a feature on the Americana Music Academy in midtown Lawrence, Kansas.
It bravely attmpts a definition of Americana or roots music:
Americana or American folk music, is a broad category that includes country, gospel, old-time guitar, blues, Tejano, Cajun, American Indian and Appalachian folk music - or any other style of music native to the United States or varied enough from its origins to be distinguished as a new form of music.
A style is considered “roots” if it serves as the foundation for music later developed in the United States, such as rock ‘n’ roll, jazz and rhythm and blues
Although it doesn’t mention specifically the music forms brought to America by the Irish and Scottish, Thom Alexander, executive director, said the academy’s curriculum may expand in the spring to include Celtic music.
Alexander, who has a master’s degree in education, said the academy’s mission is three-pronged:
1) Music Education - via lessons, outreach programs and workshops
2) Music History - being preserved
3) Music Therapy - using certified music therapists
It’s a nice article about a institution that’s growing at a phenomenal rate - which is a good thing. Read it HERE

Damien
Yep - should be fine now thanks. It’s actually there twice, and was fine on the top link. But now it’s fine for both.
Cheers
I’m Irish, I’m always at the end of the line working backwards.
But you knew that already. I suspect.
Thank you kind sir.
