1 Year Anniversary of Delahunt’s ‘Cafe &’
The week beginning June 11, 2007 marks the 1st anniversary of Eddie Delahunt’s Cafe & being open in Kansas City.
There will be events to mark the occasion through the week, but they will be low-key so as to impede your attendance at the big Irish events at the end of the week, the annual Bloomsday Party, and Browne’s Irish Street Festival.
From June 11-June 16, 2007 every day is a party! There’s a daily raffle and a Grand Prize drawing! And if it’s your birthday the Cafe will get you a drink. The biggest event of the week is on the Thursday Night, June 14, when there will be live music at around 7pm. (UPDATE: See an account of the Party for the 1st Birthday of Cafe &
Eddie promises that in another 119 years he will have a major festival in Kansas City comparable to Brownes’.
We’re very lucky in Kansas City to have this major focal point of Irish events that Eddie’s coffee shop has become. New traditions are forming all the time, like Thanksgiving morning and the Irish New Year, and more and more performers are playing in the great venue that is the courtyard.
Football on the telly is a regular feature and very special events like the Jennifer Ireland beard and haircut benefit cement the role the coffee shop plays for us all.
Meanwhile the strangely named coffees continue to pour, and the range of edibles grows nicely.
I could go on, and I will another day, but for now just plan on stopping in, and saying a big congratulations to Eddie and Betsy for a wonderfully run venture. You’ll probably get to hear some good music, and maybe some good chat. Indeed, you never know who ya might meet.
It was on June 15th 2006 that Cafe & had its Grand Opening. Happy Birthday Cafe &.
p.s. I hate coffee.

Eddie, I thought you might have said, I do in me doughnut hole!
