John McSherry & Led Zeppelin

Speaking of John McSherry (as Liam o Maonlai was), the Belfast uilleann piper had a similar bunch of records in his house to everbody else. So while Planxty and The Bothy Band had an obvious huge influence, so did the Led Zep records.

The youngest player to win the senior All-Ireland piping competition, John went on to co-found the acclaimed Lunasa and join god of Irish trad music Donal Lunny in Coolfin. For good measure he recorded sessions with Clannad, Sinead O'Connor and Nanci Griffith,

John McSherry's At First Light are in the news because tomorrow they begin a Scottish tour.
