Kansas City Scottish Highland Games

Kansas City is having a Scottish weekend in June with music entertainment that includes many of your favourite Celtic, traditional, folk and rock performers in the KC region.

The elders headline Friday night at 9pm. New Scottish music-playing band Weel Gaun Wheelie open at 8pm.

Music Line-up for Saturday June 10

Seven 45-minute sets:
    10:00am Antioch Middle School Fiddlers
    11:00am Bob Reeder
    12:00pm Ellis Island
    1:00pm  Rowan
    2:00pm  Hazel Whyte
    3:00pm  Tullamore
    4:00pm  Weel Gaun Wheelie
(Scottish people get up earlier on Sunday mornings)

There's all kinds of great Scottish stuff, like a full day of Harp workshops, Highland Bagpipes everywhere, storytelling, dancing, tug-of-war, a livestock display including sheepdogs, stuff for kids, and of course the actual Highland Games.

The Highland Games themselves are great fun to watch, Tossing the Caber, Putting the Stone, Throwing the Hammer, Tossing the Sheaf, and there's others where you throw awkward pieces of metal around - well you don't, you stand well back while large men in kilts do all this stuff.

The Kansas City Scottish Highland Games takes place at the E.H.Young Riverfront Park in Riverside, MO, on the north bank of the Missouri River just east of I-635 & 69 (east of Argosy Casino)
Friday evening, June 9, 6-11 pm
Saturday, June 10, 9 a.m.-5 pm
