Jubilee of Acoustic Music Festival

The 2006 Jubilee of Acoustic Music Festival is almost here. Two days of Workshops and Concerts, May 19 - 20, with a great lineup of talented instructors and entertainers.

I've spoken to a load of people who loved this event last year and have it as an absolute must on their Kansas City Music calendar this year.

A concert by popular Celtic group Tullamore on Saturday night is included, and there will also be some Irish music taught.

Workshops will be in: Hammered Dulcimer, Mountain Dulcimer, Guitar, Fiddle, Banjo, Mandolin, Autoharp, Pennywhistle, Harmonica, & Bodhran
If you pre-register now you can SAVE $5 off the regular admission price for a Full Jar of Jam which includes workshops and mini-concerts all day for both Friday and Saturday, the Friday evening activities and the Saturday night Concert.

You can download the registration form from our web site. You will find additional blanks on the registration form this year to pre-order a T-shirt as well as a CD of the recordings done by the Americana Music Academy at last year's festival
The Americana Music Academy will again sponsor the recording of traditional tunes by any one who would like to preserve the music we all love. Solo or ensemble groups are welcomed to sign up with Thom Alexander to take advantage of this special opportunity offered only at the JAM festival.

Visit the JAM website for the list of instructors/entertainers for this year and the workshop descriptions.

Friday night: Jam Session in the Campus Center and a Contra Dance.
Saturday night: Concert with Dana Hamilton, Walt Michael, Common Ground, Tullamore. After the Concert, bring your instruments and to JP Coffee near the campus entrance for more jamming!

To volunteer contact JAM directly at jam [at] kcnet.com, or download a Volunteer form from the website and mail it to JAM. Last year's festival was a rousing success mainly because of the participation and help of the special people who volunteered their time to help bring a quality festival to the Kansas City area.

Instrument for $1: If you win the raffle you could go home with a Fender Deluxe Banjo, a Michael Kelly Mandolin, or a Violin. Check JAM for more instruments being donated.

Location: The Jubilee of Acoustic Music Festival takes place on the campus of Metropolitan Community College, Longview in Lee's Summit, Missouri
