Immigration Myths

On this Day Without Immigrants you might want to refresh on a few myths circulating about immigrants, according to the Chicago Sun:

1. Government officials are using the rallies to round up illegal immigrants. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been cracking down on employers - ICE recently arrested 125 people in a 10-day crackdown in the Midwest. ICE said they need probable cause and do not engage in random sweeps. ICE, ICE, Baby.

2. IIlegal immigrants are eligible for all public benefits.. Actually they're not eligible for most forms of public aid.

3. Immigration is more of a hot-button issue now than ever before. When among other things:
In the 1850s, the Know Nothing movement opposed the influence of Catholic immigrants, especially Irish Catholics, on U.S. politics
