Oh yes, there's the looks alright.

At first I didn't notice because I had to readjust to paying so much more attention to the detail of the surface being cycled on - Dublin being way worse than even the Missouri side of State Line - but now that I'm back on my feet in a wheels sense I can't help but notice the looks.

That said, the looks are more discreet- almost as if people are trying not to look or not to be seen looking - in contrast with the stares, and indeed questions and shouts, in KC.

A sight I thought I'd never see. Long Grass in Ireland. And on a balcony!

Do you get the looks cycling it about town?

Nice post, Eolai! I was riding right along with you there. Regarding "where are all the people"... same thing is true here in Little Rock. The only time I have seen the streets back in Florida as empty as they are every night here in the Midwest was "Black Monday" when the stock market crashed and it was eerie how there was suddenly no one on the streets that night. It's like that all the time here in the Midwest, though. It's really quite odd. I'm sure there are socio-cultural reasons for it but that's beyond my pay grade. Sometimes I think it's just that people in the Midwest don't truly believe that the wolves are all gone. ROFL. Take care and (seriously) mind those buses!

Good point Medbh - I meant to highlight that as a very definite difference with life in KC where I could leave "Long Grass" on my porch unlocked for the day and night with me and the dog not even in the house.

This balcony rest for the bike was a temporary affair and my non-sleeping thing meant I could watch over it through the night and the day. Mind you I've had a bike stolen in Dublin from directly under my watchful gaze before.

Right now the bike has moved indoors under lock and key.

I suspect I'll talk more on this.

You do have your bike locked up there though, Eolai? Looks like someone could climb up and snatch it. That happened to Mr. M's bike before.
