My dad was supposed to go, but then at the last minute had to travel, so I was the lucky sub. I bought my copy, figured it's only 700 pages or so, I can read this in a week. Yeah. So, I started reading it, got up, grabbed my Oxford English. Discovered that the words I wanted to look up weren't actually in the dictionary. The only way I was able to understand it was to read it out loud. I've come to the conclusion that it is not a book meant to be read silently to oneself, but rather read aloud with friends.
