Ireland’s Feet of Fire in Branson, MO
Celebrating the spirit of Ireland, and we’re not talking about Irish whiskey, in Branson this April, is a show called Ireland’s Feet of Fire.
Feet of Fire features live Irish music, champion step dancers and “symbolic fire dancing”. Don’t ya just hate fire dancing that is non-symbolic?
This “talented ensemble of Celtic Isles performers” (which I think is where I live) share their country’s traditions and folklore on the world’s stage that is the World Fest in Branson, Missouri, from April 3, 2008 - May 4, 2008.
Every spring Silver Dollar City hosts performers from around the world to share their cultures, dance and music traditions with the guests who visit Ozark Mountain Country.
The World Fest also has a new Irish Market Place featuring 15 artisans recreating their heritage crafts.
Silver Dollar City is located at 399 Indian Point Road, in Branson, Missouri.
Hours: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Sunday; 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday through May 4.
One-day ticket prices (including taxes): $51.59; $40.84 for ages 4-11; $49.44 for seniors ages 62 and older; free for ages 3 and younger.
Season pass prices, valid through April 30, (including taxes): $69.86; $59.11 ages 4-11; $63.41 ages 62 and older; free for ages 3 and younger.

This is probably the same show Silver Dollar City has done as part of their annual “World Fest” that’s simply been jazzed up with a few flames. It’s not exactly Michael Flatley (which is what they’re hoping you’ll confuse it with).
And since when has Irish traditional dancing involved fire? I thought that was more for island nations like Fiji.
Doing some looking on the Internet, it seems to have some sort of connection with the Irish dance show, Magic of the Dance. Direct or derrivative or otherwise I don’t know.

And you’re right, the dancers weren’t doing the kind of pre-recorded ‘taps’ you hear in Riverdance… they were real, amazingly-talented former all-Ireland champion dancers (ie, their feet hit the floor, which is not what you see in the Flatley dances). Pity you didn’t come see it.
And yep, fire dancing isn’t synonymous with Ireland, but it is here in Ireland, and works incredibly well with Irish music… I don’t think I did too bad a job
