Gomers of Lee’s Summit, MO St Paddy’s Day Blowout!
Gomers of Lee’s Summit, Missouri are having what they call a St Paddy’s Day Blowout. Exclamation mark.
It takes place on Monday March 17, 2008, St Patrick’s Day itself, from 5pm, and because things have end-times, until 8pm
It’s FREE but I don’t know what you get for that. There’s talk of a bottle of whiskey being opened, some Irish Ale being poured, and before you think it’s all good, also an Irish accent contest.
While such a contest is obviously unfair in that anybody actually from Ireland like myself could waltz in and win (even if I put on a fake Irish accent), I can pretty much assure you that the last thing on the planet anybody with an actual Irish accent wants to hear on St Patrick’s Day is people without one pretending otherwise. That’s the reason I frequently recommend a Thai meal on Paddy’s Day in America. Still, though, for everybody else I imagine it could all sorts of fun.
