Dirty Old Towne are playing at Waxy O’ Shea’s Irish Pub in the Branson Landing TONIGHT Saturday July 28th 2007, at 11pm.
The Towne promise you “a fun night of Irish acoustic, and Celtic fueled Rock”. Have a visit to their MySpace and listen to a few tracks
I must say I do like that they start their gigs at 11pm.

Dirty Old Town is of course the title of the Ewan McColl classic English folk song about Salford in Lancashire. Salford is by Manchester in the industrial north of England and depicted in many Lowry paintings.
Because Dublin has at times carried the pet name of Dirty Dublin, and even more because the Dubliners first, and the Pogues much later, made the song very popular in Ireland, many people think it is an Irish folk song and about Dublin. It is neither.
We discussed it earlier on Irish KC with Mike Webber mentioning the early Rod Stewart version of the song being his favourite. I still regard Luke Kelly with the Dubliners as being my favourite interpreter of this and many other MacColl songs.
Ewan was the father of Kirsty MacColl, and probably my favourite of the many songs he wrote is The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, made famous when Roberta Flack slowed it down - a long way from coal mines and shoals of herring, you’ll agree.
