My grandmother lived in Julianstown and we lived in Walkinstown. Sometimes we drove through the park to get there, I liked that journey. We were broke back then and my Da used to bring us to the park Sundays to walk around the zoo, squinting through the gaps at the lions. I found out recently they don’t have stripes. I brought my own kids once, after the train journey up from the country, my daughter had a headache so she lay on a bench with her head on my lap till it got better. We ate our sandwiches then.

This is lovely evocative piece Eolai.

I shudder to think what sort of mayhem Omar and Kima will create when they get to go to Phoenix Park next year. Dog-dog's obviously much more mature.

Thanks for the walk. I feel refreshed, a little sunburned maybe, and ready for a big mug of tea. (My pedometer actually advanced while I was reading this. Good one!)
