You make me want to come out and visit Kansas City. I had no idea there was so much of interest going on there. Cheers!

Speaking of Bandon...

This year's June Bank weekend is being
called the "best ever". Over 15,000 people
descended on Bandon and I understand
that if you know the town at all ( 20 miles
wesht-the-road from Cork City ) that
qualifies as a LOT of folks.

Fuchsia Band held forth all weekend
there in Bandon.

Eoin Verling has done the "followup"
posting and there are a whole bunch
of "you are there" photos and a report
on Eoin's own BLOG at...

http://www.theverlings.com/

The craic is unmistakable in the photos.
Eoin's Da even got up to dance!

Sure would love to get there someday.

Maybe we will be hearing about next
year's June Bank from you, Eolai. I
hope so.

Wherever you go... don't change your style.

As we would say here in the Ozarks...

"He can jaw up a smooth patch, fer sure,
and ain't the least bit twittle-pated".

( It's a high compliment, trust me. )

Martha, yes it is just "Mitra" - I made that decision when reviewing the post. I figured she's put her time in. that said i may have to review again lest people confuse her with these boys

Kevin, thanks. Time, a bicycle, and money often conspire to stop me doing follow-up posts on KC events myself, but hopefully I can continue to do them at least for several more months - and then I suppose I may be lucky enough to do follow up posts on the likes of the Bandon Festival!

sounds like it was "too much fun!" , eolai!

by the way, is that "mitra" as in cher or bono? i knew that we all love her; i just hadn't realised that she had attained single-name celebrity status! fair play!

Hi Eolai... thanks for the great commentary and the pictures!
Sure... it's like "being there" and for us "down-the-roaders" who are just out of reach of attending these things it's always great to get a good glimpse of the fun and the sense of community up there. Too many sites these days are nothing more than electronic bulletin boards with "here's what's coming" only and no "followup" whatsoever so thanks
again for that!

I have suspected it for quite some time but I am now convinced that Eddie's place is, officially, the center of the universe.

If the earth starts to wobble a bit someone just needs to call
Eddie and tell him to re-stack the coffee cups on the counter and everything will return to normal.

Congratulations to Eddie and Betsy and anyone who has helped make Cafe & the "place to be" and long may it continue.

I'm also sensing that this weekend in Kansas City might be the start of something permanent. Let's see... Bloomsday is ALWAYS on June 16th unless someone is able to go back in time and rewrite Mr. Joyce's novel, Eddie's anniversary will ALWAYS be at this same time, and the oldest established Irish-owned business will just keep getting another year older at this exact time every year as well.

Hmmm... that looks like planets aligning to me.
Who says a festival has to be just one event in one
location? Look at the Bandon festival ever year. It
happens all over town for 3 days with several independent
but "connected" events.
Interesting.
